SOUNDING OFF* DO YOU FEEL FIT?

October 3, 2011 in NOW YOU KNOW, SOUNDING OFF

Did you believe in it in the first place?

Fit sneakers…

At one point it was all the rage and just like with then, today I am still puzzled whenever I see people wearing them.  The way in which sneaker brands went to the lengths of advertising this new “invention”, where your butt and thighs would magically tone up with each step is mind-blowing.  Why don’t you just walk everywhere on your toes?  It does the same thing.

THE REBEL IN ME

After the 1/2 marathon I was left with the question of what next.  I want to remain fit and what to keep pushing the envelope.   No that doesn’t mean moving on to a marathon but I think next year I want to do a triathlon.

To solve this quandary (lol) a friend put me on to Rebel Race.

Per their site:

“Rebel Race is a weekend get-away for athletes that want to run a military style 5k or 15k and then party like there’s no tomorrow!  — it’s the most bad-ass, adrenaline rushing, obstacle run ever!

The Rebel Race Series is designed for people feeling the urge to tackle intense obstacles.  From start to finish, Rebel Race’s military style obstacles will have you dashing, barricade-climbing, mud-crawling, rope-swinging and fire-jumping.  Our grueling course forces each rebel to test their physical toughness and mental endurance.  Cross the finish line and bask in the glory with tons of beer, food, live entertainment, and thousands of new friends covered in mud.  Earn the bragging rights!”

Without hesitation, I shot out a group email challenging my friends to the race.  The results…we’re going to blow the roof off that obstacle course.  June 12th is the date.  I’m still working on convincing some to do the 15K…but we’re definitely in for the 5K.

Who’s with me?!

THIS journey is finally done.

3 Months of training.  Millions of miles later (well not millions). 10 pounds down. I’m feeling good. I’m feeling accomplished.

Oh and I sooooo put the smack down on my goals. I ran the whole race AND I shaved off 10 mins off my original goal of 2:30.  #BOOM

I RUN NEW YORK!

March 14, 2011 in LIFE

I did my last distance run last night and couldn’t sleep after.  I swear I woke up 3-5 times and have a long day ahead of me today.  In either case it’s now the home stretch till the NYC 1/2 marathon on Sunday.  This week I will not be engaging any after work activities and sure as hell won’t be drinking.

Here’s the map of my run from yesterday evening.  There is so much you can accomplish once you put your mind to it.

Ladies and Gents -

I just wanted to share the playlist that I created last weekend for my distance run.  I’m running even further this weekend.  It is my LAST distance run before the actually 1/2 marathon (Can I get an AMEN?!?).

Do you have any song suggestions that I can add to my final list for the 20th (Below are some of the songs that I rock out to)?
