It’s officially swimming season! As a reformed swimmer (yes your girl use to be on a swim team – or two), I’m never hesitant to jump in the water. I’m typically the first one in splashing around like a little mermaid.
If you follow me on snapchat you probably already know that I’ve taken back up this low impact work out in efforts to get that lean swimmer body – toned legs, arms and all. With this newly formed commitment of swimming once a week, I have to make sure that I take care of me hair because chlorine is very drying. Combined with my affinity for coloring my hair, I find it all the more important to protect my hair before and after hitting the pool.
Some helpful steps on protecting your hair from the pool/ocean…
- If possible pre-soak your hair with water before entering the pool or ocean
- Coat your hair with some kind of oil (ie. Coconut oil, Grape seed Oil, etc)
- Most of you won’t be swimming laps so no need for a swimming cap but you do still need to protect your hair so I’d advise braiding, twisting or putting it in a bun.
- Wash your hair ASAP after swimming and if not right after atleast rinse it with fresh water.
- Moisturize and style
- Repeat and enjoy 🙂
