There are a number of places that I’ve visited for work, and more times than not, I don’t get to really sit back and enjoy. My visit to Joshua Tree, California was a first in many regards – my first trip to any desert and the first work trip where I had a moment to really sit back and enjoy. For most, the high and dry temperatures were suffocating (tipping the scales at 115 degrees) but I found a bit of comfort in just sitting in the shade and listening to the winds crash against the trees – it sounded almost like the waves of the ocean.
There was an amazing amount of peace out there. Simple. Relaxing. Peace. A great place to be one with your thoughts – a time to reflect on life’s gifts, challenges and journey.
