THIS WOMAN’S WORTH…

Inspired by a friends blog name I wanted to address THIS woman’s worth.
This morning on the way into work I was reading an article in the New York Magazine entitled “Why Fashion Keeps Tripping Over Race” written by Robin Givhan (not actress Robin Givens) which basically addressed racial relations in the fashion industry both on and off the runway. Working in the fashion industry, I’m no stranger to being that one chocolate sprinkle. When I say the only chocolate sprinkle…I mean THE.ONLY.ONE on the ENTIRE floor. But being that only one I sometimes question is this a testament to some sort of company quota? Is my position an indicator of “this woman’s worth” where they saw past my complexion and saw what I could bring to the table?
