Restaurant Week: Ajna Bar

February 8, 2011 in SCENE & BE SEEN

Last week DK, myself and a fellow friend and EFF visited Ajna Bar (f.k.a Buddha Bar) in the meatpacking district. Bottom line I was not at all impressed, but I’ll start from the beginning.

Reservation was at 7:30. I got lost and didn’t arrive till 7:45. Unfortunately Little W 12th St is not  on my GPS.

As soon as I arrived I realized I had been there before. All I could think was “Where’s the big buddha”

Place was fairly empty and the waitress wanted to seat us in the middle of the emptiness. When we asked for a table closer to other occupied tables, she acted as if she had to squeeze us in but reluctantly did so.

Appetizers were so-so, my scallop teriyaki had more rice than scallops. Entrees were mediocre, the tiger shrimp curry was overpowered by the abundance of cilantro. The best course of the night DESSERT! I devoured the Thai Tea Panna Cotta while DK enjoyed the Molten Chocolate Cake.

My advice if you plan on partaking in Restaurant week, which was just extended to Feb 27th, skip Ajna Bar.
