LIFESTYLE * iMENTOR

September 29, 2010 in LIFE

So I’ve recently made a vow to start doing things that I’ve never done.  Example …. Mentoring.  I signed up to be a mentor through a service call iMentor a few months ago.  With the school year underway my mentee is on their way as well. Now I can’t tell you how much I already feel the gratification of the program without knowing the young lady but honestly it’s time to give back. I’m blessed period. I need to share my blessings.

One thing I did find out through the company is that men seldom volunteer to be a mentor.  What’s up with that? Young men need more guidance than young women in many cases.

What’s up guys? Where you at?

September 22, 2010 in LIFE, ON DISPLAY

Recently theEllefiles assisted in styling the photo shoot of an aspiring model. The borough of Brooklyn served as the location while the Manhattan Bridge was a backdrop. Clothing and accessories were provided by myself and DK while the photos were taken by photographer Steve O (flickr.com/photos/stvo). The model to be Xellex Rivera worked the camera. Take a looksie for yourself and let us know what you think.

Last minute tickets.

30 minutes to show time.

Ran out of work like a mad woman.

Took at cab from midtown to the bronx.

Picked up my girl in Harlem.

Jumped out of the cab and ran across the park.

Made it just in time for Em to lay it DOWN!

Danced, rapped with Em, Jay-Z, Dr Dre, G-Unit, B.O.B, Drake & Minaj, and sang with Mary & Beyoncé the ENTIRE show.

Show wrapped at 1 am … walked home.

SIMPLY AMAZING…THATS ALL.

Bryant Park VS. Lincoln Center

September 16, 2010 in LIFE

This years NYC Mercedes Benz Fashion Week ends tomorrow and it has been amazing! My only complaint… Its new location!  Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful and astetically pleasing but it doesn’t have that hustle and bustle, that mix of street and fashion that Bryant Park had.  Passersby seem to be quardened off behind a looming staircase manned by the men in black and left to mill about the main fountain.

Now Lincoln center isn’t all the way bad because despite the unfriendly vibe that I get, the location does provide other venues where fashion inspired events can take place such as the WWD exhibit and Bon Apetite cafe in a closely knit environment.  With everything there’s a give and take.

The overall response to the location is positive from what I can see in other reports but ehhh I’m not sold as yet.  I guess I just have to warm up to it.  Lets see how things are in February.

…and then there was Posen. This line is colorful, bold, dramatic, and fun. You have to be willing to step out the box to wear any of these pieces, it is not for the faint of heart. It actually reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. It all seemed so whimsical and overly-exaggerated. This was no runway show it was a theater production. From the cinched waists to the fun prints and the flirty dresses wear a piece from this line and all eyes will definitely be on you. Here are some of my favorites.

SCENE & BE SEEN* TRACY REESE

September 14, 2010 in SCENE & BE SEEN

Blessed with two last minute tickets to the Tracy Reese show from my boss, my mom and I scurried over to the show at Lincoln Center. Ms. Reese presented 42 “clean, classic, mellow and groovy looks.” An amazing woman, Ms. Reese kept a diverse catwalk. Loves it!  Celebs in the house were Stylist June Ambrose and Amber Rose.  I even bumped into an old colleague Elle Werlin…she’s an amazing stylist!
