FRIEND QUOTES*

August 31, 2010 in QUOTABLES

I’ve been thinking of adding this segment for sometime now because too often do I have a conversation where a friend has me in tears laughing at their response to a comment I made.  Hopefully I’ll be able to recapture the moment where it will be as funny to you as it was too me :)

Last week I was sitting in Byrant Park with my girl Sammy recapping after not seeing her for almost a month (talk about withdrawl).  Anyways, I’m going on and on about life, working out, work and most importantly how I see all these Louboutin clackin’ around the office (NOW YOU KNOW MY OBSESSION WITH LOUBOUTINS).  I told her earlier that same day that one co-worker, who I adore, asked me to help chose which shoes she was going to wear.  Here I am standing there waiting for her to pull out the shoes she stores under her desk and she whips out a pair for Prada and a pair of Fendi heels.

I say to Sammy:

“Honestly now…How in the HELL do you want me to choose between Prada and Fendi?!

Prada and Fendi… If I only had one I pair … “ kiss mi teet (the Jamaican in me)

Here comes miss Sammy :

“Chic’s choosing between Prada and Fendi meanwhile were out here struggling to afford STEVEN by Steve Madden”

CHURCH!  It’s all a struggle. (lol)

PS. See I told you it’s important to store heels at your desk :)

NOW YOU KNOW * NIGEL BARKER

August 26, 2010 in NOW YOU KNOW

NYC is gearing up for Fashion Week 2010 at Lincoln Center.  Due to the expense of showing at the center many designers, photographers and agencies the like, have found different way to showcase their collections.  Photographer, Nigel Barker, most notable from “America’s Next Top Model”, will be hosting a breast cancer awareness event in conjunction with CFDA and Nine West.  The event entitled “Runway Relief” looks to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer.  40 models inclusive of Coco Rocha, Jessica White, Michelle Alves and Lisalla Montenegro, will gather in the Meatpacking district to strut their stuff down the streets for the Nine West limited edition boot campaign for the cause.

The Deets:

* Date – Tuesday, August 31

* 1st ten people to attend will win a pair of Nine West limited edition boots

* The next 25 people will get a signed copy of Nigel’s new book, “Nigel Barker’s Beauty Equation” before it drops.

* The boot will go on sale for $199 on the 31st as well.

Now with all the details they didn’t share the time or exact location… TRIFE!  It most likely was done keep the crowds down to a manageable number but who really cares about all that?

So if you happen to stumble on the shoot take some pictures of Nigel and his suave self (and the models) we’d love to see what went down!

OBSESSION* GAP TUXEDO KHAKI’S

August 25, 2010 in OBSESSION

I can’t remember the last time I shopped at the GAP (maybe it was when GAP hoodies were in) but I’ve fallen in love with their new tuxedo khaki’s.  Can I get a AMEN for their structure and new school way of rocking khaki’s?

New News*Goodbye Baby Phat

August 24, 2010 in NOW YOU KNOW

Goodbye Baby Phat. That’s what Kimora Lee Simmons is saying to the brand she helped to build. She announced thru twitter on Friday that she will be stepping away from her position as creative director. She released a statement saying:

“After 14 years of conceiving and nurturing Baby Phat, it’s time for me to move on and further expand my other businesses and create a new phenomenon. I adore all those who have faithfully been with me since the beginning. I’m forever dedicated to my family, fans and customers.  My inspiration has always come from the fabulous women who have been with me through the years as we’ve grown from young party girls to power players! We’re ready for our next journey together and we’re taking a whole new generation of incredible young women with us. Girl power unite!”

Kimora has become synonymous with the Baby Phat brand so it will be interesting to see the creative direction the brand takes after her Sept. 1st departure. In the meantime Kimora will continue to work on her three labels Kouture by Kimora, KLS, and Fabulosity, and of course her reality show, Kimora:Life in the Fab Lane.

NEW NEWS* GILT GROUPE UNDER FIRE

August 23, 2010 in NOW YOU KNOW

On the heels of Gilt Groupe’s collaboration with Target many of Gilt’s customers have spoken out against this partnership since Targets CEO, Gregg Steinhafel donated $150,000 anti-gay politician Tom Emmer in July.  As a result Target has since instituted a review process for all future political donations.  Despite Targets new policy, Gilt shoppers are still up in arms about it.

Politics are everywhere people!

ROC 4 LIFE

August 19, 2010 in HAUTENESS, NOW YOU KNOW

It looks as though Rocawear has used Melanie Fiona and Trey Songz as the faces for this year’s NEXT campaign. I myself am a big fan of Melanie Fiona. The girl can sang and her songs speak volumes to me. Trey Songz seemed like an obvious choice. He blew up last year with his album Ready and has remained in the top 10 radio playlist since then. These two together made for a very sexy campaign, but it also showed that the urban fashion culture can be classy, artistic and timeless. Check them out for yourself below. My fav of Melanie is her side profile shot, and you can probably guess the one I like most for Trey. I cant help it I love tattoos hehe.
